Alton ‘Bud’ Brand
BRAND, Alton D. “Bud,” 80, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away Friday April 19, 2013, in the Life Line Hospital in Wintersville, Ohio.
Bud was born November 17, 1932, in Tunnelton, WV., son of the late Thurston Brand and Cecelia Kowalsky Brand Popivchak.
Bud was retired from Timet-Titanium Metals Corp. in Toronto. He was a member of the Toronto First Church of the Nazarene, the Pilgrim Mason Lodge #691 F&AM and the Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.
Bud served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two brothers Orvis “Buck” Brand and Joseph Popivchak and by a sister Shirley Stull.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years Joyce (Coffman) Brand, whom he married on October 8, 1955; two daughters, Debra Hall and Patricia (John) Wade both of Toronto; four grandchildren, Lauren Hall of Calf., Allison Hall of Toronto, Ryan (Kristy) Garman and Matthew (Amber) Garman all of Toronto. He also leaves two sisters, Wonnona “Sis” (Bob) Peckens of Toronto, Irene Popivchak of Wintersville; one brother, Thurston (Pearl) Brand of Wintersville; and his brother-in-law, Gary Coffman of Butler, MO. Bud also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Bud will be held on Tuesday April 23, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St., Toronto, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. Dennis Kelley and Rev. Eric Frye will provide his service and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
Masonic Services will be held on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
