FUS softball loses two

STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan University of Steubenville softball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting Penn State-Behrend Sunday, 16-0, and 22-3.

In the first inning of the second game, Mallori Linscomb doubled to bring home Ashley Ruttencutter and Rosemary Cassidy.

“We are a really positive team,” FUS head coach Jen Parker said. “It is hard to keep your spirits up when you are continually losing games, and I’m really proud of them for doing that.”

Weir to host Steelers game

WEIRTON – The Weir High Class of 2015 will host a basketball game with members of the Pittsburgh Steelers on April 25. All proceeds will benefit the Class of 2015 prom and senior dinner.

Tickets can be purchased from the activity director at the school, pre-ordered at the Millsop Center at or from any Class of 2015 student at Weir High.

Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the door.

Marlins to hold registration

WEIRTON – The Marlin Youth Swim Team will hold registration from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 16 at the Millsop Community Center.

MYST has been in existence since 2010, when it formerly functioned as the Millsop Marlin Swim Team through the center. The program is open for swimmers ages 5-19 and range from the inexperienced novice to the experienced high school swimmer.
